In love with both American comics, European graphic novels, and the powerful inks of Japanese manga, Levi Hoffmeier started drawing stories at a young age.
His early webcomic, Halo: Fistful of Arrows, made such an impact on the Halo community with upwards of a million views that Microsoft eventually acknowledged it as canon. Its success eventually led to working with Microsoft on official Halo works like the Halo Encyclopedia from Dark Horse and the cover art for the new Halo novel from Simon & Schuster, Halo: Waypoint Chronicles.
In 2020 and 2021, Levi handled the art for Kansas City Public Library‘s Summer Reading campaigns, helping to create outreach for youth literacy amidst the pandemic. In 2023, Levi worked with KC Mayor Sly James’ literacy non-for-profit, Turn the Page KC, to design a children’s book for the new KCI Airport Terminal. From 2024 to 2025, Levi designed and illustrated work for the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma including publishing their newsletter magazine.
Levi also writes and illustrates original comics like the science-fiction adventure Mayflower and the new manga-inspired ReMaster Monk.

Halo Waypoint Chronicles
For the newest entry in the Halo book series from Simon and Schuster (Gallery Books imprint), Halo Waypoint Chronicles, Levi painted a wrap-around cover featuring a mosaic of characters and classic Halo imagery. Released in Spring 2026, you can now buy it at your local bookstore. The artwork was also used for the Audio Book CD release and Ebook editions.
ReMaster Monk
A manga-inspired comic that explores the psychological dangers of our modern world through the lens of retro nostalgia. Levi recently Kickstarted the first issue as a proof-of-concept for the ongoing series. This is Levi’s current project with 70+ pages completed thus far.
988 Tribal Response
From 2024 to 2025, Levi worked with the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, with a focus on the Tribe’s 988 suicide and mental health program. Levi created illustrations and designs for billboards, brochures, flyers, and social media.
I Can Be Me In KC
Levi worked with KC Mayor Sly James’ literacy non-for-profit, Turn the Page KC, to design a children’s book for the new KCI Airport that opened in 2023. The book showcased Kansas City to both visitors and locals alike, and highlighted local careers and homegrown artists. You can purchase a hardcover copy at the Kansas City International Airport Bookstore.
Halo Encyclopedia
Levi designed and illustrated a number of characters for the new Halo Encyclopedia from Microsoft and Dark Horse, including illustrations of Offensive Bias and Mendicant Bias, two characters that have loomed large in the lore since Halo 3 but had never been fully depicted. Levi also brought other characters to life, like the early human that would become 343 Guilty Spark.
Summer Reading Program
In 2020 and 2021, Levi handled the art for Kansas City Public Library‘s Summer Reading campaigns, helping to pioneer outreach for youth literacy amidst the pandemic. The campaign included posters, mailers, social media, physical prizes like pint glasses, and more.
Mayflower
After a terrorist strike on a dystopian society paints scientist Roger Fergal as the culprit, he must turn to a radical society of idealists, the Mayflower Project, for help. Caught between their goals of bloodless revolution, the government’s technological control, and a violent terrorist, Roger must decide who, if any, he should tell of his discovery: the secret to faster-than-light travel.
Shadowrun
Levi contributed illustrations of characters, weapons, vehicles, and events to a handful of Shadowrun role-playing-game books in the 2010s.
Halo Evolutions
Levi’s “The Vitruvian Spartan” (seen left) illustrated the short story Pariah for the Evolutions short story anthology, originally published by Tor Books.
Halo: A Fistful of arrows
An unofficial companion piece to Bungie’s Halo: Reach, A Fistful of Arrows reveals the fate of the Spartan Jun of Noble Team as the planet Reach falls to the Covenant. As Jun struggles with what he must do to fulfil his last mission, he recalls his now fallen comrades through a series of flashbacks of Reach before its apocalypse.
